Misspelled Names
and Their Meanings

Many people have their names misspelled on a regular basis. Have you ever had someone else misspell your name? Sometimes it can be quite frustrating and irritating. But, wait! There's more.

Sometimes there is actually a rational behind why people will misspell other people's names. I'm not saying it is a good rationale but there is a reason nonetheless.

So, let's examine some of the more common names, how they are commonly misspelled and the semi-lame reasons behind these misspellings.

Libary means literally "liberty of Barry". So when a guy named Barry learns to read he might say I am exhibiting libary by going to the library. Other people tend to misspell his name often.

Axe - and no this is not another form of Axl as in Axl Rose. This is more like "I'm going to axe you a question, Axe". So, there is a double meaning for this misspelled word. First the word is mispronounced as it should be "Ask" and second, the real name is spelled Axxxxxxe. The original meaning of this name is "One who chops wood".

Nucular and no this is not the same as nuclear. Nucular is a name derived by combining Nute, Lars and Cutie Pie is thrown in the middle by parents of especially TV-worthy babies. So the mashup of these names is how this name came to be. People still misspell this name as Nuclear however.

Warsher should not be confused with Washer as these are completely different words. Some country folks say "warsher" all the time when they mean "washer" but this misses the meaning of the proper name. Warsher is actually derived from combining the names Warner and Sherman. Just take the first part of Warner and combine it with the last part of Sherman and you have Warsher. And, if you happen to be a Warsher you get upset when your name is misspelled, especially is someone writes down the word Maytag.

Fustrating is a cross between Fustramian and Ting which are names from two different cultures and also are derived from the names of two minions in grade school who get into all sorts of trouble. They can be quite frustrating for their teacher. Many people misspell this name.

So, the next time someone misspells or mispronounces your name, don't get fustrated with them. Instead put yourself in their shoes. Literally put yourself in their shoes and run as far and as fast as you can. That will show them not to exhibit that behavior ever again. Or else they may call the police. It could go either way.
